مقام راصت الذيل
The Tonic of this
Maqam is C, and is distinguished by having the third and seventh notes
lowered by 20% when descending. It is equivalent to the Turkish Maqam
Rahawi by a Rast tetrachord played below the Tonic. This Maqam tends
to sound like the African Pentatonic scale, by stoppage, often, at its
second note and avoiding its seventh note. |

The above are
different names for this Maqam, Has a Tonic on D and has a commonality
with El-Theel. That is the lowering of the second and third notes
(E and B) by 20%. When descending the scale, a Rast tetrachord on
G below the Tonic, is used. It is also distinguished by stressing the
fourth and the fifth notes and avoiding the second note. |

This Maqam is composed
of a Nahawand tetrachord on D, followed by a Bayati
tetrachord on A. It has the character of a Pentatonic scale by the
avoidance of its seventh note. |

The
Tunisian-Libyan Isphahaan
مقام أصفهان الليبي-التونسي
Its Tonic is G, and is
composed of a Rast tetrachord on G, followed by a Rast
tetrachord on the upper G and avoids its third note to give it the
Pentatonic feel. It is called Ushshaq in Morocco. Of its
characters is the closing (ending) on its fifth note, and therefore,
changes name to Raml El-Theel. |
